Diving in Gili Trawangan for Beginners
Most beginner divers are looking for a few things when they make the choice to get dive certified. The dive school, facilities, weather and sea conditions, and access to healthcare facilities are often concerns. Gili Trawangan just off the northwest coast of Lombok is an ideal setting for newbie divers. Let’s talk about why in today’s blog post.
A Great Dive School
Generally, divers are concerned with safety, and new divers want a reputable dive school with lots of great reviews and PADI or another recognized certification. They are probably also looking for a location that is suitable for beginners with light currents and great visibility. Most dive schools catering to beginners will have a training pool where students can get a feel for the equipment and build confidence before their first real dive. This is something that is most likely on your list of criteria if you are planning your dive training.
Gangga Divers at Villa Almarik Gili Trawangan can offer all of this and lots more. A purpose built dive pool, professional instructors, great diving conditions year-round, and a comfortable dive centre for lessons are all available to you. Don’t take our word for it though, check out our fantastic Trip Advisor reviews from past students and divers.
Easy Beginner Dives
Starting to scuba dive can be an exciting but also daunting experience. You definitely don’t want to do your first dives in conditions that could make you feel nervous or unsafe. Large swells, strong currents, difficult entries or exits, and tough navigation should all be avoided for beginners.
Gili Trawangan is a great choice in this respect because of the gentle sea conditions and numerous beginner friendly dives close to the island. For PADI Scuba Diver certification, instructors like to dive at Sunset, Trawangan Slope, and Goodreef. All these sites are within 10 to 15 minutes of Gangga Divers.
Friendly & Experienced Instructors
Dive instructors are not only paid to teach you to dive but also to help you feel comfortable, keep you safe, and point out interesting places, animals, and things you should be aware of while you dive.
If you don’t feel comfortable from the start with your instructor, he or she might not be the right person to teach you to dive. You will put a huge amount of trust in your instructor and want to be able to feel happy asking questions and bringing up any worries you might have.
This doesn’t mean you have to be best friends. In fact, your instructor should be fun but also able to take things seriously and take control when necessary.
Gangga Divers at Villa Almarik are very lucky to have dive instructors on staff that have been diving in the area almost their whole lives. They know the reefs like the backs of their hands and never get tired of sharing the wonders of the Gilis with guests.
